Royal Budline is a well known and underground indoor cultivator whose headquarters is located in Humboldt County, Arcata CA. Well connected to the best genetics and growing practices in the game, this cultivator has a wide portfolio of awards and in 2019 collaborated with ArcataX to win 2nd place in the BHO category for its cut of Strawberry Banana. This year Arcata Fire partnered with Royal Budline by doing a fresh not frozen harvest in the same facility as Arcata Fire HQ that happened to be ready at the perfect time of year for maximum freshness to the Cup.

From the beginning of this conversation with Duke of Royal Budline, we were excited. He was fresh off of a big win at the Ego Clash, and we discussed combining forces to harvest and extract a fresh, not frozen run of his indoor Zkittlez that he happened to be growing right next door to the Arcata Fire HQ. That fateful harvest, we walked to the room with a small group of extractors who proceeded to cut down fresh flower, remove all its non-trichome producing leaves, and walk it over to the washroom at Arcata Fire, where we started the process of making it into rosin. The color, aroma, and terpene abundance was world-class from the beginning, and we knew this one was a special one. So much candy and dessert-like sweetness, it was slightly intoxicating. This batch was grown, harvested, manufactured, and packaged as fast and close as a producer can get and came from a coveted strain that has had multiple awards already in its lifetime. This is a rare one worth finding and keeping.

What is rosin syrup?

As we explored clarifying rosin and learned the differences between this ingredient and live resin and other types of oils, we knew we had to name it something that separated it from the others while also explaining its consistency at its core. "Rosin Syrup" is just like it sounds: a liquified rosin that has a nice light amber glow and, when warm, pours just like syrup. It also tends to be tasty and sweet, just like something you’d put on pancakes. Our hope is that in the near future, syrup becomes a way to boost pre-rolls and edibles, as well as a product on its own for those who want a potent hit and high.
